What is registration insurance?

In the world of sports registrations, sports participants can now purchase coverage to help recover some or all of the costs associated with season cancellation due to reasons such as injury, sickness, accident, job loss, military service, etc. Recovering those pre-paid, non-refundable fees through registration insurance just became a lot easier.

Why should I buy registration insurance?

Non-refundable registration fees have been the normal practice for many sports organizations. Over many years those athletes’ who were unfortunate enough to have their sports seasons cut short were unable to recoup any or all of their non refundable costs associated with those fees, until now.

How will I know which plan is best for me?

We offer a plan that we call Registration Protector Essentials which is a comprehensive plan that allows for several covered reasons to file a claim. Our plan covers you during your entire registration period.

What information will I need to purchase registration insurance?

We only require basic information from you the customer. Once you have decided to purchase the coverage, we make it quick and easy to purchase.

Will I be able to purchase this registration insurance at a later time?

You need to purchase this coverage up to 24 hours prior to the start of your season.

Coverage

What does it cover?

This covers your out-of-pocket registration costs and the unused portion (pro-rated) of the non-refundable cost paid.

Is there anything excluded from coverage?

Yes, there are exclusions (see here)

When does my protection begin?

The coverage will be effective at 12:01 am on the date following payment of any required plan cost.

Why do I need to buy this insurance when I register for the season?

We suggest purchasing the policy at the time you register for the season to ensure that your registration is fully covered.

What is a pre-existing medical condition?

The company will not pay for any loss or expense incurred as the result of an Injury, Sickness or other condition (excluding any condition from which death ensues) of an Insured, or Family Member which, within the 90 day period immediately preceding and including the Insured’s coverage effective date: (a) first manifested itself, worsened, became acute or had symptoms which would have prompted a reasonable person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment; (b) for which care or treatment was given or recommended by a Physician ; (c) required taking prescription drugs or medicines, unless the condition for which the drugs or medicines are taken remains  controlled without any change in the required prescription drugs or medicine.

How do I get copies of my insurance documents?

You will receive an email confirmation immediately following your premium payment with the  policy documentation as evidence of coverageYou also have the option to request a copy via US Postal Service.

Policy Servicing

What if I need to make changes to my policy?

Any changes to your policy can be made by contacting the Chubb Customer Service Center at 844.825.2263.

Cancellation

Will I be able to cancel or change my insurance after I purchase it?

You have the ability to review the policy wording during a free look period where you will be able to cancel within 15 days from the date of purchase as long as your season has not started and no claim has been filed.

How do I cancel my policy?

To cancel your insurance policy, contact the Chubb Customer Service Center at 844.825.2263

Will I get my money back if I cancel coverage?

If you are within the 15 day free look period,you have not filed a claim and your season has not started, you will receive a full refund.

What if I need to cancel my season participation?

If you cancel your season participation for any of our covered reasons, you will need to contact the Chubb Claims Center at 844.825.2263, press 2 to start the claims process. This will allow you to request a refund for the non-refundable registration costs.

What if I need to interrupt my season participation?

If you interrupt your season participation for any of our covered reasons and will not be able to return to the season, you will need to contact the Chubb Claims Center at 844.825.2263, press 2 to start the claims process. This will allow you to request a refund for the pro-rated non-refundable registration costs.
